Description Cape Alumina was established in February 2004 and is now Australia's leading pure-play bauxite company, evaluating one of Australia’s largest undeveloped export-quality bauxite deposits.

The Brisbane-based company controls approximately 2,100km2 of exploration tenements in western Cape York. This is the largest tenement holding in the region outside the RioTinto Alcan (RTA) mining leases.

The company’s business model is built around the initial development of the Pisolite Hills deposit – its most advanced and promising project.

The Pisolite Hills bauxite project is centred on an elevated, open, dry bauxite plateau approximately 50km northeast of Weipa in western Cape York, Queensland.

Based on known reserves, the Pisolite Hills bauxite mine and port project will export up to seven million tonnes per annum (Mtpa) of dry bauxite over a 12-to-15 year period.

Construction is expected to start in 2012 with production scheduled to commence in late 2013 or early 2014.

It is anticipated that future growth of Cape Alumina will be based on a significant increase in the company’s bauxite resource base, cash flow from bauxite exports, and possible participation in either a new green field alumina refinery or a brown field expansion of an existing alumina refinery.
