Sports - Cassowary Coast

For a relatively small population the Cassowary Coast has produced quite a number of national and international sporting stars because of the facilities available and the sporting enthusiasm of the community. This is reflected in the number of sporting clubs that exist here.

 

There are magnificent golf courses scattered across the region and lawn bowls rinks and tennis courts are readily available. Cricket, netball, soccer and rugby league are very popular.  Swimming, surf life saving, rowing and outrigger canoeing attract many to the water.

 

In an area with many rivers and creeks and such a short distance from the reef, fishing, both recreational and competitive, has a big following. Innisfail has horse racing and pony clubs exist in both Innisfail and Tully.

 

So whether you want to participate or enjoy a spectacle, there is something for every sports minded person.
