Recreational facilities - Cassowary Coast

The community has access to a wide range of facilities to enjoy recreational and leisure pursuits. The Cassowary Coast Regional Council provides libraries, public swimming pools, playgrounds and parks with BBQ and picnic amenities. Warrina Lakes covering approximately 50 hectares, just minutes away from the heart of Innisfail, is an excellent example.

Pubs and licensed clubs provide an opportunity for socialising and entertainment and there are restaurants, bistros and bars available, particulalry at Mission Beach because of its significant tourist trade.

Local beaches are magnificent and unspoilt. At Etty Bay, Kurrimine Beach, Mission Beach and South Mision Beach, the regional Council provides net enclosures to protect swimmers against marine stingers during the stinger season (generally from November to May, but subject to seasonal variability).

There are National Parks in the wider region and close to home for those who enjoy the outdoors and natural beauty. There are also some of the best Wet Tropics walking tracks available at Mission Beach and in the Innisfail hinterland.

Those with boats can access the water from numerous free public boat ramps.
