Industry clusters
The development of industry clusters to facilitate the collaboration of businesses and to leverage their capacity has been a feature of the Cairns economy for over a decade. The following clusters are currently active in the regional business landscape:
- Study Cairns is an education and tourism network representing organisations, institutions and business in Cairns that are dedicated to providing help and support to students in the Cairns region.
- SuperYachts The Super Yacht Group Great Barrier Reef (SYGGBR) was founded in 1999 and over the last ten years has successfully marketed the Cairns region in attracting Superyachts for the benefit of many local businesses across the region.
- Tropical Expertise The Australian Tropical Expertise Consortium (ATEC) is a specialist group offering expertise suitable to international and Australian clients in government, non-government organisations and private sector seeking a diverse and highly skilled network of specialist consultants.
- Aviation
- Cairns Landscape Industry Cluster (CLIC) CLIC was formed by the landscape and garden industry in Far North Queensland in June 2004 as a collective of lifestyle horticulture businesses, individuals and organisations that are involved with the wide range of the Australian tropical landscape industries.
