Culture Cairns

 

When it comes to cultural pursuits the Cairns Regional Gallery  showcases around 30 exhibitions a year that feature the work of national and international artists, as well as a strong focus on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island art. The Tanks Art Centre, situated in an historic WW11 site and housed within three enormous oil tanks is anther unique local  feature located in the Cairns Botanic and Cultural precint .

For the amateur theatre enthusiast the Cairns Little Theatre offers a regular season of plays thorughout the year.

Membership of the Cairns Choral Society is open to all from high school students upwards to participate in their recitals, choirs and performances. 

The Cairns Centre of Contemporary Arts  offers a wonderful range of contemporary art and is home to three arts companies, offering inspiring  educational and entertainment experiences.

The Cairns Civic Theatre and the Cairns Convention Centre host a range of live concerts and performances.

For the younger members of the community Cairns is home to several dancing schools, junior theatre and vocal groups and bands.
